This area, located a reasonable distance from Paramaribo, is a great place to experience the purity of nature. A rare bird species you can spot here is the Cock of the Rock. On top of the Fredberg you have a breathtaking view over the Surinamese jungle. Wake up in the morning on top of the mountain in your hammock and experience the jungle in the purest sense of the word. RTL Late Night
Fred Pansa has developed into a very knowledgeable guide in a short time after the discovery of the mountain, together with the best bird guide of Suriname, Sean Dilrosun. The guidance of Arjan Dwarshuis during his journey to break the world record for bird watching and the extra promotion on the RTL Late Night and Humberto Tan has earned him a lot of publicity.
Student trips
Because Fredberg has become one of the most popular locations due to all the publicity and intensive social media exposure, this location can be quite busy, especially during holidays, long weekends and vacation periods when many students who are doing their internship in Suriname travel to Fredberg. Keep this in mind when planning.

Day to day program
3 day program - day 1
Departure is scheduled early in the morning from a central location in Paramaribo. Depending on road conditions, the journey to Fredberg takes approximately four hours. After arriving at base camp, you'll have the opportunity to take a refreshing dip and have lunch. Then it's time for action, as you head into the jungle to climb Fredberg. After a three- to four-hour hike, you'll arrive at the summit. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the vast surroundings, a beautiful sunset, and, not to forget, the impressive starry sky. You'll spend the night in a very basic hammock camp, so sleeping might be a challenge!
3 day program - day 2
In exchange for a somewhat restless night, you can enjoy the awakening of the immense jungle early in the morning, hopefully accompanied by an enchanting sunrise. You will remember the distinctive sound of the howler monkeys for a long time, and macaws regularly fly by, starting a new day with a great deal of commotion. The accompanying cook ensures a hearty breakfast so that you are ready with good energy for the hike back to base camp. The guide takes you via the other side of the mountain towards the spot where the rare Orange Cocks ( Rupicola rupicola ) are regularly spotted. Additionally, you can hopefully spot other animals and birds and enjoy the beautiful flora around you. Back at base camp, lunch awaits you, followed by plenty of time to freshen up and relax. Fishing enthusiasts can cast a line, or you can kayak around the area. When darkness falls, you will walk a short distance through the forest with the guide to discover the nightlife. Tonight you will sleep at the base camp in one of the shelters equipped with beds with mosquito nets. You will use shared sanitary facilities.
3 day program - day 3
After a relaxing night at base camp and breakfast, there is still time to spend some time with the guide looking for animals in the forest. But if you prefer to relax by the water, that is of course also possible. Depending on your program, you will leave for the city after lunch or continue your journey to another location deeper inland. All options and combinations can be adjusted to your own wishes and your tailor-made program.
Extension of the program to 4 days
You can also opt for a 4-day adventurous variant of the above program.
In that case, you'll spend the second night in the jungle at a base camp with hammocks in a cave. The same program will then be continued on days 3 and 4.
