Our wonderful three-week trip through Suriname (January-February 2026) was superbly organized by Suzette and her colleagues at Suriname Holidays. We had a fantastic tour through Suriname as a couple in September/October 2025. After an extensive phone conversation with Suzette Eeltink of Suriname Holidays, we were able to tailor the trip entirely to our wishes and suggestions. The drivers who transported us also proved to be tour guides who were full of interesting information along the way and offered excellent suggestions for stops. They were always on time to pick us up, and nothing was too much trouble. This made our four-week trip a wonderful experience, with the personal input and experiences of the drivers, guides, boatmen, and owners/operators of the accommodations. We also had personal encounters with many, mostly very friendly, Surinamese people. This added value that we would never have realized on our first visit to Suriname. We traveled through Suriname and French Guiana for five weeks from late October to late November 2025. Everything was wonderfully organized by Suzette from Suriname Holidays. We highly recommend Suriname Holidays. The small and cozy Greenheart Boutique Hotel was our haven in Paramaribo. Highly recommended. On Suzette's recommendation, we chose the Greenheart, and it was a perfect choice. We'd stayed at the Torarica Hotel a few times, but we definitely didn't feel as comfortable there. From the Greenheart, we took multi-day tours to Bibi Pan/Maratakka River, the Commewijne region (by bike!!), the Upper Suriname River (a hiking tour with the wonderful guide Cho), French Guiana (with the equally wonderful guide Irvin), and Palemeu/Kasikasima (seven days in the jungle, far from civilization). Suzette listened carefully to our needs and put together a trip that completely met our expectations. All transfers were perfectly arranged, and the taxis were always on time.

Suriname Holidays was incredibly helpful in organizing our 3.5-week vacation in Suriname.
Due to the unique composition of our group, including a 3-month-old baby, and the variety of desired activities, it was quite a challenge to create a complete program with something for everyone.
We succeeded brilliantly, and the support and transportation to and from the various activities was also perfect. Whether it was airport transfers, city tours, plantation visits, or domestic flights/boat trips, it was all taken care of!
Suriname Holidays also provided an exceptionally good accommodation for our group.

A bike ride to Peperpot where we could spot a sloth and many, many monkeys. The day trip to plantation bakkie. Top guide Jaqculin and Marcha and Bas who told the untold part of history. Inland to Jaw Jaw a Tela where we could participate in workshops among the villagers. The turtle tour to Braamspunt where we saw dolphins in addition to turtles and learned a lot from Daniel about all the animals we encountered.
The welcome package and the reception from Debi ensured that we were able to make a trip full of beautiful memories.

Thanks to Suzette's advice and input, we had a wonderful trip where we felt we saw every aspect of the country: Paramaribo, plantations (Bakkie, Peperpot), the country's largest lagoon (Bigi Pan), a village on the Tapanahony River deep in the jungle with descendants of the original inhabitants (Palumeu), and a village in the jungle on the Suriname River with descendants of escaped slaves (Anaula).

We cycled the 'Gold Rush Suriname' with five people. It was superbly organized through Suriname Holidays and Cycling in Suriname. It was an ultimate jungle adventure that we look back on with great fondness. Our guides, Cho and Dustin, were excellent. Cho told us a lot about the country and the jungle.

Thanks to Suzette's tailor-made trip, we had a fantastic holiday in Suriname. We felt completely taken care of. The transfers were always exactly on time, untypically Surinamese. The accommodations were small-scale with plenty of personal attention. The tours to Bigi Pan and Awarradam were incredibly well-organized. The food was also delicious. We were amazed by all the natural beauty! And cycling to the plantations was an experience in itself. Michel and I (in our early sixties from Haarlem) thoroughly enjoyed our trip through Suriname. The enjoyment began with our introductory meeting with Suzette, who enthusiastically introduced us to this beautiful country using a map of Suriname. A week later, a detailed itinerary proposal arrived in our inbox, one she'd put together based on our wishes and requirements. We wholeheartedly accepted, and then the preparations could begin. Mid-September was finally here: three weeks exploring Suriname! We had a fantastic trip! A good balance between the more basic and the more luxurious. We started at Appartementen Bloemendaal and enjoyed a relaxing and delicious stay (Kenneth is a fantastic cook!). We then continued on to Akira (Bigi Pan), where we took wonderful birdwatching tours and were thoroughly pampered. Our next stop was Paramaribo, where we stayed at the wonderful hotel Villa Famiri. What a lovely place: small, with a small pool, a great location, and super friendly staff. The city tour with Desmond was very informative and enjoyable, definitely worth it. Villa Famiri served as our base for several trips. This was very convenient because we could leave our large bags there and continue with smaller backpacks. First, we went to Plantage Frederiksdorp, a beautiful location (definitely visit the Story Museum, do the Boni Trail, and don't forget Plantage Bakkie!). Then we returned to Paramaribo (explored the Sunday markets, among other things) and after two nights, headed into the jungle to Jaw Jaw. What a wonderful adventure! Hospitable people, beautiful scenery, and simple but good food. We took several walks through the jungle and the village. A wonderful experience. Then back to Paramaribo and time to visit Fort Zeelandia. Definitely worth it. And then it was time for another jungle experience. We flew to Palumeu in a small plane in 1h15m, an hour of which was spent over nothing but jungle. Magnificent! All those shades of green, truly magnificent and grand. In Palumeu, we were warmly welcomed by Julius, our guide for the next few days. He took us on two days of exploring the river, where we had breakfast on a sandbank (including coffee, tea, sandwiches, spreads, plates, cutlery, etc.), took a beautiful walk through the jungle (with lots of explanations about the various trees and animals), and had lunch at a wonderful spot overlooking the river (best lunch spot ever). What a wonderful few days! An experience we'll never forget. And then our trip was almost over. But not before we had a few more wonderful days of relaxation at Peperpot Plantation! There, we could relax by the pool and enjoy the delicious food and cocktails. We also took a walk through the adjacent nature park, which is definitely recommended.
It was a fantastic holiday, and we are incredibly grateful to Suzette for putting together such a wonderful trip for us. She has a great team of contacts locally who ensured that all transfers, etc., ran smoothly. We never had to wait for drivers or guides; everything was perfectly arranged. We highly recommend Suriname Holidays. Be sure to stop by the office to discuss your wishes (even if you don't live in Haarlem, it's a good idea; Haarlem is definitely worth a visit).

In three weeks, we, sixty-somethings with 23-year-old twin daughters, gained a diverse impression of Suriname. Stunning nature with abundant jungle and exotic flowers and animals. The sounds of cicadas, birds, howler monkeys, and so on are impressive and add even more color to the surroundings. Palumeu stood out for us. Flying in a small plane just above the jungle and landing smoothly on an airstrip. A warm welcome from the guide and locals, who repeatedly let us experience their village atmosphere and learn about self-sufficiency. We enjoyed several boat trips to beautiful spots where we ate our own catch and enjoyed a delicious lunch with hammocks strung up for lounging and swimming. Anaula was also excellent with her explanation of how to survive in the jungle and the visit to a Maroon village where people are also self-sufficient and live simply. The morning and evening boat trips revealed various birds and nocturnal animals. The rapids were wonderfully relaxing. The performance, accompanied by rhythmic song and dance by various Maroon men and women, was a captivating experience. The densely populated strip of land in the north of Suriname also brought us a lot. Cycling to the sloth sanctuary near Bloemendaal (Saramacca) gave us a good impression of life with the animals that are later released back into the jungle. At Jodensavanne, we learned even more about the history of slavery, as did the bus tour with Cynthia McLeod and the visit to Plantage Bakkie. All our wishes were discussed in advance with Suzette Eeltink of Suriname Holidays, and she arranged the transportation, accommodations, and tours perfectly. We had wonderful conversations with the various drivers and had great respect for the boatmen who guided us across the river. Thank you so much for this wonderful introduction to Suriname!

We had a wonderful cycling holiday through Suriname in February 2024, which Suzette had put together very well. The rental bikes were well-equipped, with pannier racks and waterproof Ortlieb bags.
The accommodations we booked were excellent and enjoyable. We found Suriname to be a welcoming country with very friendly people and delicious food. Besides the historical and cultural knowledge, there's also a great sense of humor. We took some lovely photos that confirm this. We swam in the warm Suriname River, with a water temperature of about 30 degrees Celsius.
Suriname is, by the way, a safe cycling country with good roads and even some cycle paths along busier roads. More people should experience this.

A few weeks before the pandemic broke out, we took a two-week trip to Suriname in early 2020, so we were lucky. We arrived just in time. The trip was organized by Suriname Holidays—our second stroke of luck.

The second trip was, if possible, even more enjoyable, including a magnificent four-day trip to the Maratakka River with the wonderful guide Erik Gubbels, a lovely stay in the plantation area (Plantage Marienbosch, go see it), a night on the large lake Bigi Pan, two days in Paramaribo, and finally a second stay in the jungle, at Knini Paati.
Suriname Holidays proved to have perfectly prepared the trip. The organization was flawless, and we were fully catered for.
We cherish the memories and can't wait to visit this country again.

When we booked a private tour in Suriname for 2020, Suriname Holidays was there to understand our demands and made a unique trip, fulfilling 100% of our wishes.
