Adjossi 2023
Looking back at 2023
In this last week of 2023, I would like to look back on the past year. The year has flown by! It goes without saying that we are looking back on a turbulent year worldwide. For Suriname, 2023 also became a year full of ups and downs. It's great that I have been able to organize many wonderful trips together with all my colleagues in Suriname. In this way, more and more people are discovering how beautiful and special Suriname is as a holiday destination! Spread the word!
Suriname travel and trends
Visits and trips to the country of birth of (grand)parents are becoming increasingly popular among the generations born and raised in the Netherlands. The attention to roots, the many TV broadcasts on this subject, but also the commemoration year have a major influence on this awareness. In addition, Suriname remains a unique nature destination where you can really travel off the beaten track, which appeals to many people. Especially those who are well-traveled and have seen a lot of the world can greatly appreciate the unspoilt and authenticity in Suriname.
Wet and dry season in Suriname
The water in Suriname was also a regular topic of discussion: either there was abundant water, which caused rivers to flow far beyond the banks, or there was a shortage, which caused the boatmen on the inland rivers in particular to face quite a few challenges in recent months. struggled. Due to the drought and the lack of water, trips to Bigi Pan have not been possible for more than 1,5 months. How this will continue in the new year is still quite exciting and uncertain. Let's forward all the rain that falls here to Suriname, I'm in favor!

Bigi Jari 2023
The past year was without a doubt a year full of special and memorable moments. I didn't want to let my bigi jari in May and the 20th anniversary of Suriname Holidays go unnoticed. That's why I was able to celebrate a wonderful party, together with many friends and family. I donated the gift money to the Elisabeth Samson House Foundation. I was able to personally present the donation to Mrs. Cynthia McLeod during the Surinamese months of Urban Recovery in the Amstel Church. The President's Daughter & the Richest Freeborn Lady
A beautiful film / documentary about the same Cynthia McLeod was released this year by director Mildred Roethof. Cynthia McLeod still has one mission in her life: to prepare Elisabeth Samson's former home as a museum so that this monument becomes an important source of inspiration, knowledge and admiration for current and future generations in Suriname and for the African diaspora. You can order the film online until mid-February. With your contribution you support a cinema in your area. https://picl.nl/films/the-presidents-daughter-the-richest-freeborn-lady/

Travel 2023
In 2023 I even visited Suriname twice, one of which was a trip with my family. In any case, these visits have an extra stimulating effect and also ensure that you as a customer continue to receive up-to-date information.
Let's toast to a great end to 2023. I wish everyone the best for the new year!

Right from my first visit in 2003, Suriname stole my heart. An overwhelming jungle, friendly people and good food: Suriname has it all.
Because I know the country and its people so well, I can tell you exactly where you can find the nicest and most special places and what you can expect from your Suriname trip.
Going on holiday to Suriname with children
My two sons (2007/2010) have been traveling since they were little and would prefer to go on holiday to Suriname every year. You have come to the right place for advice and useful tips from my own experience.
Sustainable travel in Suriname
Since 2010, I took over the company and became the owner. My goal is that with our experience we can contribute to the development of tourism in Suriname in the long term so that this industry is built up in the fairest and most sustainable way possible.
