Collaboration VvKR and Trees for All
Plant trees and offset CO2
The industry association VvKR (Association of Small-scale Travel Organizations), to which Suriname Holidays has been affiliated since its founding in 2011, has started a cooperation agreement with Trees for All. The association wants to make a concrete contribution to a sustainable world, which is why the VvKR has joined Trees for All. CO2 emissions are offset by planting trees.
Every year the VvKR donates at least 100 trees to Trees for All.
Collaboration and awareness process
This collaboration between VvKR and Trees for All is an important step in the awareness process. Even though there is still a long way to go to create more sustainability in tourism. Because sustainability is becoming increasingly important during travel, this topic is a regularly recurring agenda item. There is even one Sustainability Handbook published by the VvKR.
Individual CO2 compensation
As a customer of Suriname Holidays you can also make an individual contribution by donating compensation to Trees for All. If you need help calculating the emissions you want to offset, we can help you. Naturally, more and more people will travel more consciously. That is why this collaboration is an important step for our future. Together with the association, members and their travelers, we are building a so-called VvKR forest.
Tree counter
The program VvKR forest will not become a real forest that you can visit in the future. This is a so-called tree counter. The tree counter can be found at homepage of VvKR. Together with all other VvKR travel specialists and all our customers, we hope to plant as many trees as possible. The tree counter currently stands at 325 trees (as of January 19, 2020).
Special reference code
A special reference code has been created for travelers and customers of VvKR travel specialists: VKR. When you donate as a traveler stating this reference, this will be registered separately.
As a traveler you will receive a personal certificate of the donation.
Plant trees or calculate CO2
At Trees for All you can offset CO2 in two ways:
- Donate a number of trees per trip, with a minimum donation of two trees, stating the reference VKR
- You calculate the CO2 emissions of your trip (based on flight, car kilometers, energy consumption). This data is used to determine the number of trees to be donated. You can request our help for this. Here too you donate with the reference VKR.

Sustainable and small-scale tourism
Not only compensating your trip will become increasingly important. Sustainable and small-scale tourism will also cause less damage than mass tourism. This is also VvKR's vision on the future of tourism. Suriname Holidays shares this vision with the VvKR. Our trips are organized with respect for nature, the environment and culture and carried out on a small scale. In addition, we find the cooperation and working conditions of our colleagues in Suriname very important. If we provide fair compensation, they will also take good care of our guests. I have been working this way for more than 17 years. Equality, honesty and short lines of communication are the most important pillars on which I have successfully built this company. Small scale, personal well-being of both our guests and our executive colleagues, in addition to sustainability, are the main focus of Suriname Holidays for both our and the future of my colleagues in Suriname.

17 years later
