One love one color
Of course, you only really get to know a country well by visiting it often yourself. We go out ourselves at least once a year. This time it was my turn. From March 22 to April 2, 2016 I once again made a wonderful trip to Suriname, of which here is a report:
Arriving at Zanderij Airport, the warm blanket with the recognizable wonderful scent of the tropical rainforest embraces me. Yay, the flip-flops can be worn again! That same evening I was thrilled to hear the sounds of the best Kaseko bands performing on the pier of Hotel Torarica. This cheerful and typically Surinamese music makes me forget my jet lag.
The next day it's party time again. It is a national holiday, namely Holi Phagwa. I've never experienced it here before, but it's so nice! This Hindu festival celebrates the victory of good over evil with, among other things, the sprinkling of colored powder and colored water. Armed with sunglasses and old clothes, I threw myself into the party that took place in the Palm Garden and on Independence Square. The paint is everywhere and everyone is the same color. One love one color…..
