Day to day program

Redi Doti

The village was founded in 1930 and the name Redi Doti refers to the red colour of the sand, which was clearly visible when the village was approached from the river. The village is mainly inhabited by indigenous Surinamese of the Caribs and Arawaks. Agriculture, with pineapple cultivation as the main crop, is an important source of income. Income is supplemented by the production of traditional products such as cassava bread, jewellery and wickerwork. Due to the economic challenges, tourism is an interesting and welcome source of income in which the village can invest in the future.
