Matoekoe, cheerful art from Suriname
Opu Ai
open your eyes
Last year I started working with Gallery De Kus with the sale of works of art by the children of Matoekoe Foundation.
Creative daytime activities
Matoekoe is an anthroposophical, creative daytime activity for children and young adults with an intellectual disability and is located in Lelydorp/Suriname. There is a special collaboration between the Foundation and the Nola Hatterman Art Academy in Paramaribo.
Cheerful greeting cards
This year we had a selection of these children's works of art printed on greeting cards. Very nice to have these cards on hand for the holidays. But also to encourage someone in difficult times.
Card 1: Star Faces: Abigail Schenkers
Card 2: Star Butterflies: Louella Kiba
Card 3: Shapes: Orpheo Yorks
Card 4: Basic shapes: Raief Nanhekan
Card 5: Animal fun: Mercelien Amoko
Card 6: Party forms: Awinaash Matoera
Proceeds for Matoekoe
The proceeds of this work 'Opu Ai' ('Open your eyes') students go to the Matoekoe Foundation to pay for transport to the city, teaching materials and maintenance.

Right from my first visit in 2003, Suriname stole my heart. An overwhelming jungle, friendly people and good food: Suriname has it all.
Because I know the country and its people so well, I can tell you exactly where you can find the nicest and most special places and what you can expect from your Suriname trip.
Going on holiday to Suriname with children
My two sons have been traveling since they were little and would prefer to go on holiday to Suriname every year. You have come to the right place for advice and useful tips from my own experience.
18 years later
Since 2010, I took over the company and became the owner. My goal is that with our experience we can contribute to the development of tourism in Suriname in the long term so that this industry is built up in the fairest and most sustainable way possible.
