Questions about traveling to Suriname and the coronavirus
The coronavirus outbreak is currently keeping us all busy. We can imagine that you have questions about the possible influence of the coronavirus on your trip to Suriname. Naturally, the safety of our travelers comes first. That is why we are in close contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the VvKR and our local partners and we are closely monitoring the situation.
We hereby provide the most up-to-date travel-related information regarding the coronavirus. The information will be adjusted if necessary, so that you are continuously informed.
The government of Suriname will keep the airspace closed from Saturday, March 14, 2020.
KLM will not operate any flights to Paramaribo until at least July 3, 2020.
If you have booked a trip with us and the situation changes in such a way that it affects your trip, we will contact you as soon as possible. We do this in order of departure date.
I have booked a trip to Suriname and I am worried. What are the possibilities?
As a Suriname specialist, it is very important to us that you travel in good spirits. If you have any doubts, you can, in consultation with us, postpone your trip for a maximum of one year. At that time, we will deviate from our travel conditions in a positive way and do our utmost to keep costs as low as possible. However, the possible costs depend entirely on the situation and type of trip. We are also dependent on the conditions that KLM and/or Surinam Airways apply for tickets that have already been printed. We cannot indicate exactly what the costs will be, but in such a case we will do our utmost with all parties involved to make this as profitable as possible for you.
If you do not want to postpone the trip but want to cancel it, in this case our travel conditions in force.
I have booked a separate ticket to Suriname, can I cancel this free of charge?
The KLM conditions apply. For more information, please contact KLM.
Is it wise to take out travel or cancellation insurance due to the coronavirus?
We always recommend taking out travel and cancellation insurance, regardless of the situation. However, every insurance policy is different. It is therefore important to check the policy conditions carefully in advance to be sure what is and is not reimbursed. We also recommend that you check exactly what your health insurance covers.
