There are currently no more people infected with the coronavirus in Suriname. Suriname will become one of the safest holiday destinations without mass tourism and good weather guaranteed!
Everyone has probably heard something this week about plans to go on a corona-proof holiday in a closed resort. We prefer to choose a holiday to Suriname in small-scale, attractive accommodations full of outdoor activities in beautiful nature. We are ready with everyone who works in tourism in Suriname to make people happy again soon with a fantastic holiday experience.

This week the European Commission (EC) hopes to release a report with guidelines for tourism. In addition to the guidelines for safer holidays, an inventory will also be made of regions and countries that are similar in their approach to the crisis. The regions of safest countries and the so-called risk areas will also be indicated. Because tourism is one of the largest economic pillars worldwide, the EC will try as much as possible to allow tourists to take their holidays within the European Union. After all, it concerns billions of euros.
It is therefore recommended that a consultation be held in the short term between the various directors of steering tourism organizations of countries in the Caribbean region. Because when we look at the figures of the impact of the number of infections and mortality figures in the global Covid-19 crisis, our region and certainly Suriname come out well. A second reassurance for international travelers may be that the coronavirus would spread less quickly in tropical areas.
The weather therefore also plays a role in travelers' choices, with a "nice weather guarantee" often not available within Europe. Suriname and the Caribbean, on the other hand, usually offer that guarantee. Another factor that may play a role is that more people will look for something other than the mass destinations. Suriname and our region have numerous sustainable, small-scale accommodations that make the risk factor of possible transmission from an infected person relatively much smaller. And nice tour packages are all the more interesting.
Airlines such as SLM and Fly Allways, which have operated various routes in the region in the past, can therefore compete as important players and ensure that packages come with interesting rates to carry out the so-called 'double destination' packages. In the near future, new time slots will have to be requested from the aviation authorities for the various airports on routes. Because the existing flight routes and schedules will look very different in the near future due to the bankruptcies of various airlines and travel organizations. Now is the time to request the most favorable time slots and then, after consultation with the region, place the double destination packages with international tourism whole sales. The travel organization Suriname Hollidays from Haarlem, the Netherlands, developed the Suriname-Curaçao package a year ago to offer this.
