Local markets

During a day off in the city, take a look at one of the many markets. Try some of the delicious tropical fruit. Our favorite remains the grapefruit, huge citrus fruits with a fresh-sweet taste. You often see them from a distance on the market stalls. But mangoes, pineapple and oranges also taste a lot better than here in the Netherlands. In addition to fruit and vegetables, homemade ketjaps and sambals are for sale at the markets, highly recommended if you like real Surinamese peppers.
