Study trip Suriname from PABO De Kempel
During my stay in Suriname, the PABO students from the Hogeschool also came The Kempel from Helmond on a two-week study trip to Suriname. We have carried out this trip annually since 2009. During the trip to Suriname, the students discover the country and its culture. They can also get an idea of whether they want to do an internship in Suriname. The destination Suriname seems to be one of the most popular trips. The students from previous years are often so enthusiastic that word spreads that the Suriname trip is one of the best trips. This year no fewer than 34 students participated.
Commewijne district – plantation history – colonial history
This time I went out with the students for a day during their visit to the Commewijne district. We first visited Rust & Werk. There we went to take a look at the shrimp fishermen and the primary school. During the boat trip we saw dolphins at the mouth of the Suriname River. Later in the afternoon we were treated to a delicious lunch and given a tour of it Open-air museum Fort Nieuw Amsterdam. The new exhibition No matter how we got here together in the cell complex gives a very good picture of the various cultures. Here you will become acquainted with the different population groups of Suriname, their background, culture and eating habits.
All of Holland Bakt (and all of Suriname too)!
One of the students of the College – Cas Wolters – was a participant in the TV program last season All of Holland Bakt. His spontaneity and enthusiasm allowed him to give baking lessons to students at the Cederboom School in Paramaribo on one of the free mornings. His baking lesson was filmed by it 10 minutes Journal in Suriname.
From November 9 to 24 I was in Suriname for two weeks. The purpose of my working visit, in addition to maintaining our local contacts, is to visit new locations and accommodations.
