We have been back for almost 2 weeks now, we enjoyed this trip so much. Based on a sample trip on your website, we only had one telephone contact. You shifted and replaced some things in your travel proposal and we have not regretted it for a second. It was perfect to get into the Surinamese rhythm at the Saramacca river. We were lucky enough to participate in the release of a sloth and a tree anteater. It was so special to see these animals so close.
Cycling along the plantations in the Commewijne area was also unprecedented, despite the fact that it was very hot during our stay. The owners of Sutopia were certainly great! We had a delicious, healthy meal there, tasted typical Surinamese vegetables and they gave us a glimpse into what their life was like in Suriname. The nice thing about cycling is that you travel slowly; you see a lot more and you easily come into contact with the people who live here.
Our stay at the Upper Suriname is also unforgettable. The journey there was quite an experience. There is so much to see in the boat; you really don't look bored. It is beautiful nature and you have your first glimpse of the life of the Maroons. Spending a night in a hammock in the jungle was quite exciting with the tarantulas, bullfrogs, howler monkeys and the caiman.
From Upper Suriname via Paramaribo to Kabalebo. The flight to Kabalebo is not just any transport, but very impressive to fly for almost an hour above the rainforest. It makes you silent. We also enjoyed Kabalebo again: beautiful boat trips, various walks. Learned a lot about the healing powers of nature and saw beautiful animals. The accommodation was very good, the food was very tasty and varied, the guides were knowledgeable.
If I have to summarize why this trip was so beautiful, it is quite difficult. The nature is beautiful, the people are very friendly and have a lot of humor. It is well organized locally and it is very relaxing that you can communicate well with the guides, because you both speak the same language well. But what we certainly won't forget is that you have put together a trip that really suits us. We were active, but also had plenty of time to chill in the pool or the Sula. And that was no problem with the warm weather we had in this extremely dry time (no rain for 3 weeks). We spoke once and the proposal was an immediate fit. But if I had to associate one word with this experience, it would be BEAUTIFUL!
