Program

Depart by jeep from Paramaribo for a 2,5-hour journey to Zanderij Airport and then on to the Coesewijne River. Transfer to a canoe for a trip along the narrow Upper Coesewijne River. In this watery area of tidal forests, swamps, and savannas, you'll search for giant otters, manatees, capybaras, caimans, monkeys, and a wealth of unique birds, including the captivating harpy eagle. At low tide, you'll frequently need to get out of the boat to drag it past obstacles and fallen trees.

You'll spend the night in a hammock camp in the heart of the jungle. What could be more wonderful than enjoying all the sounds of the jungle while enjoying a delicious meal, knowing there's not a soul in sight.

The second day continues along the river through the Coesewijne Nature Reserve. You'll pass through Pakoeli, making frequent stops to enjoy the unique surroundings. This part of the tour is ideal for spotting various birds, such as weavers, ospreys, and various parrots. You'll stop at a secluded spot along the river for lunch. Afterwards, you'll sail back to Pakoeli, where a jeep will be waiting for the return trip to Paramaribo. You'll arrive there towards the end of the day.
