BROWNSBERG NATURAL PARK
The Brownsberg area is a 6000 hectare nature park, beautifully situated in the tropical rainforest. The Mazaroni plateau is located at an altitude of about 500 meters with a unique view of the mountains and the Brokopondo reservoir. The Brownsberg Nature Park has a high biodiversity. The vegetation consists of different types of undisturbed tropical rainforest, including cloud forest and high forest, interspersed with the occasional splashing waterfall that cascades down from a higher point.

In this nature reserve you will find all 8 species of monkeys in Suriname: the Surinamese Silky Monkey, the Squirrel Monkey, the White-headed Monkey, the Satan Monkey, the Black Capuchin Monkey, the Gray Capuchin Monkey, the Black Spider Monkey and the Howler Monkey. You may hear the ominous sound of the Howler Monkey when visiting the Brownsberg. In addition to monkeys, you can also spot other mammals such as sloths, deer and occasionally a jaguar. But many cold-blooded animals including frogs, lizards, iguanas and snakes also live in this area. In addition, the park is a great place for bird watchers. We arrange day trips to multi-day trips in combination with the reservoir in front of you.
