Knini Paati is a small island in the middle of the Ferulasi Sula, a stone's throw from the Saramaccan village of Nieuw Aurora. After a three-hour drive and a one-hour boat ride, you'll escape the hustle and bustle of the city and find yourself at a resort where you can completely immerse yourself in the beautiful, unspoiled nature and the wonderful, refreshing rapids.
Each of the ten lodges has a private veranda overlooking the river or jungle, with the sound of the rapids in the background. Relaxing in your hammock is pure enjoyment. All lodges have a private bathroom with hot water, air conditioning, and a fan. Wi-Fi is also available at the resort.
During a walk through the jungle and a visit to one of the nearby villages, you will experience everyday life in the interior of Suriname and among the Saramaccan people. You will gain a better understanding of the maroon culture and the customs of the ancestors that are now intertwined with daily life.
For a good balance between relaxation and exertion, you can take various trips by canoe or embark on a fascinating and educational guided jungle walk. Afterwards, relax in the pool or on the sun deck. There's also plenty to do in the evening, such as an exciting night boat trip.

Day to day program
Day 1 - Bus trip to Atjoni and boat trip to Knini Paati
You'll depart from Paramaribo around 9.00:00 AM for Atjoni. Along the way, you'll make two stops to use the restrooms or enjoy a snack. You'll arrive in Atjoni early in the afternoon. Here, you'll transfer to the boat and sail to Knini Paati in about an hour. Upon arrival on the island, lunch will be waiting for you, giving you time to recover from the journey. Then it's time for check-in and to settle in at the lodge. The afternoon is dedicated to relaxing and acclimatizing. Take a dip in the rapids or the pool, relax in a hammock, or enjoy a delicious drink at the bar. Dinner is served at 1:19 PM, after which you can continue to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Day 2 - Various excursions
This day is all about experiencing and soaking up the sights. Breakfast is ready at 08:00 AM, and at 09:00 AM you'll depart for your first excursion. This will last a few hours, ensuring you'll be back on the island in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon as you please, perhaps relaxing in a hammock with a good book or by the pool. You can also go for a swim or relax in the sula. Dinner is served at 19:00 PM, after which you'll prepare for your evening excursion: caiman-spotting during a nighttime boat trip.
Day 3 of a 4-day trip | Walk through the jungle
Today promises to be an active and educational day! After breakfast, prepare for a brisk forest walk of at least three hours, led by a guide who will tell you all about the flora and fauna of the forest and how our ancestors lived in the area. Upon your return, lunch will be waiting, giving you the opportunity to recover from your strenuous morning. Enjoy the stunning scenery and the various facilities at the resort by relaxing in a hammock with a good book or taking a nap. You can also go for a swim, relax in the sula, or enjoy a nice cold beer in the restaurant.
Day 3 for a 3-day trip and day 4 for a 4-day trip | After lunch return to Paramaribo
Breakfast is ready from 08:00 AM, and afterward, you can enjoy your last few hours on the island. Relax in the hammock on the balcony of your lodge or take a quick swim in the sula before heading back to the bustle of Paramaribo. Check-out is at 11:00 AM, after which you can enjoy a delicious lunch at 11:30 AM. The boat departs for Atjoni at 12:00 PM. Our driver will be waiting there to take you back to your vacation destination in Paramaribo. During the trip, you'll make a few stops so you'll arrive back in the capital on time, satisfied from your wonderful exploration of Upper Suriname!
Accommodation
Lodges for 2 to 5 persons furnished with beds and mosquito nets, private sanitary facilities (hot and cold water), solar energy for power supply and an air conditioning that can be switched on between 21:00 and 07:00. On the veranda overlooking the creek you have your own hammock and seat.

- Activities: During your stay at Knini Paati, a full program of varied activities is included in the price. The daily schedule is discussed with guests daily. Activities include forest walks, a visit to a Maroon village, and a night boat trip.
- Jungle camp: For an additional fee, you can experience a night in the hammock-ridden jungle camp. The camp is reached after a long hike. Here you'll cook over a wood fire, bathe in the river, and sleep in a hammock.
