The Bastion is a wonderful accommodation in New Amsterdam on the right bank of the Suriname River, across from Paramaribo, within walking distance of the open-air museum of Fort Nieuw-AmsterdamThe Bastion is the perfect base for exploring the Commewijne district independently by rental bike or car. You can reach several interesting places, such as the Nieuw Amsterdam open-air museum, Frederiksdorp, Katwijk plantation, Mariënburg and Peperpot plantation. It is also possible to take a day trip by boat to the plantation Bakkie/Alliance and the Warappa Creek a succes story.

Accommodations
The Bastion has a total of nine comfortable hotel rooms, one suite and three apartments.
Besides a swimming pool and the Tamarinde restaurant, the hotel features a café and a spacious pier on the water. The pier is the perfect spot to enjoy the river's beauty with a drink and a snack at sunset. Performances are regularly held in the garden on weekends.
